Street Creep Scares in Des Moines!

Matt loves the home he moved into last year, but it comes with some structural issues that need to be addressed. His property has a large concrete driveway that leads down to his home. The large concrete slab is pushing against the come, causing damage to the structure of the garage. Additionally, the soil around Matt's home is consolidating and causing a sinking right at the garage entrance.

To fix these issues, Midwest used PolyLevel to lift and level the driveway lip going into the parage. We also installed a CompressionGuard that will fix the issues street creep is creating in the structure.

Never Clean Your Gutters Again!

This homeowner has our CleanSpace waterproofing system in a portion of her basement, but she wants the entire area fully waterproofed. Additionally, this homeowner has her clean her gutters four times a year and just doesn't want to have to do that anymore. Her yard has many mature trees so installing RainDrop gutter guards was a must. And we installed CleanSpace in the rest of her basement to waterproof her walls and control the moisture. Now this homeowner will never have to clean her gutters again!

Concrete Washout Repair

This customer wanted the pads in front of his garage doors to be lifted. The main reason the pads were settling was because of washout. This was an urgent project because if we waited much longer the cost to repair would increase. We lifted and stabilized the concrete pads using PolyLevel, one pad had to be lifted 3 inches! We finished up by using NexusPro to seal all the joints and cracks.

Farmhouse Wall Stabilization

This customer wanted to stabilize his old farmhouse wall since he and his family were planning on living there for a long time. The home's wall was bowing due to pressure from the soil and water. This problem needed to be solved. We installed PowerBraes to the wall to support the inward movement it was experiencing. PowerBraces not only stabilize walls, but they can reverse wall bowing over time by being tightened regularly!

Waterproofing a Basement in Waukee, IA

This customer owns a rental property and contacted us about water problems in the basement causing leaks in the carpeted area. We found that the water was coming through the concrete block wall. Water can seep through concrete block walls due to different reasons like pressure, small pores in the blocks, poor drainage, cracks, lack of waterproofing, and freezing and thawing cycles.

Pressure from water in the soil can force it through cracks or porous areas in the blocks during heavy rain. Poor drainage systems can lead to water build-up and pressure against the foundation. Cracks in the foundation or blocks create paths for water entry, and poor waterproofing makes the walls more vulnerable. In colder climates, freeze-thaw cycles can widen cracks and allow water to enter.

To solve the water problem, we used two solutions: WaterGuard and CleanSpace. WaterGuard is a drainage system that collects and redirects water along the basement walls. CleanSpace is a moisture-resistant barrier installed on the walls to prevent water and moisture from getting in. The renters are happy with the property owner's quick and effective resolution of the water issue and Midwest is happy to have helped!
