Custom Designed Crawl Space Repair in Central Iowa

Custom Designed Crawl Space Repair in Central Iowa - Image 1If you read this blog often, you will no doubt notice that we refer to what Midwest Basement Systems does as “systems.” This is because most problems that we encounter will require several steps to fix.

It would be like saying you can do a major repair on your car’s engine by just changing the air filter or replacing spark plugs. Let's take a moment and focus on a wet,  dirty, and nasty crawlspaces. This overall idea of custom designed "systems" applies also to a leaky basements and cracked or broken foundation repair projects too.

So let’s say that you are fed up with the nasty smells coming from your crawlspace, or the ascetic look and decide to get it fixed. You call up Midwest Basement Systems and tell us all about the smells and the humidity and anything else that is bothering you.  Basically, the nasty crawlspace.

We will help you schedule an appointment to have our crawl space inspectors to come to your home. Our inspector will come out and take a look as part of your free inspection. The inspector will take lots of pictures for you and then walk you through everything he noticed and observed.

Sometimes there are puddles of water in the crawlspace, sometimes the humidity is really high, sometimes its both, or sometimes it is simple dirty and still loaded with construction debris from the building of the home. The idea of a whole complete system comes into play during the design stage.

Our inspector will show you how to fix the water problems and/or the high humidity. After all, laying down a nice heavy liner and drying the air with a dehumidifier will do nothing to solve the standing water problems. This is one of the major reasons that we like to involve each homeowner in the process. At the end of our visit you will receive a written estimate on the crawl space encapulation project.

It's important for you to know what is going on under your home and exactly what we will do to fix it. We never use the same solution for every home when designing system for you.

Our inspectors are trained to cater each system to the conditions in your home. If you have a water problem, we will suggest sump pumps and drainage pipes to remove the standing water. If the high humidity is your only concern, then we will focus on the CleanSpace crawlspace liner and SaniDry line of air machines and dehumidifiers.

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make as a homeowner is to assume that your neighbor’s house is the same as yours. At Midwest Basement Systems, we have seen houses that are now more than 20-30 feet apart where one house only has high humidity and the other is like a swamp.

Having said that, there are times when an entire neighborhood is plagued with similar problems. As an industry leader our system design specialists and inspectors keep the individual needs of our homeowners at the top of our priority list, customizing an installation and design for each specific home to meet the goals of the homes owner.

In addition to crawl space encapsulation and humidity control, we also offer superior systems for basement waterproofing and foundation repair to help fix bowing, buckling basement walls and repair cracked floors and basement walls.  We also use piering systems to level homes where a foundation has settled or shifted.  We look forward to hearing from you.
